10 Stunning Beaches to Visit in the Philippines (2019 Edition)

1. Boracay Island, Aklan

This small island off the coast of Aklan is arguably the most popular of the beaches in the country. Famous for its powdery white sand, it has become a popular destination for locals and foreigners alike due to the opportunity to hang out with new people.

2. El Nido, Palawan

In recent surveys and polls, El Nido is starting to catch up on Boracay as the go-to beach for Filipinos. This is for a good reason. The biggest selling point of El Nido is the dynamic marine wildlife and ecosystem in the area, which has been barely affected by the rising tourist arrivals. The local government of El Nido should be really lauded for their commitment to protecting the island’s flora and fauna.

3. Samal Island

Samal Island is the rising star in the Philippine beach scene. With a total of 118 kilometers of white and pink sand, you will be hard-pressed to find any complaints among the tourists that visit this island near Davao City.

Turquoise waters and virgin greenery is not the only reason why tourists go here. There are also gorgeous rock formations and shoals on the coast that you can take pictures of. The Shanipaan Shoal, in particular, is an islet off the coast that disappears during the high tide, leaving only a solitary cottage in the sea.

4. Siargao Island

While Siargao is more known as a surfing destination, travelers have observed that it also has great beaches. The moment you get on the beach, you will realize that the gorgeous coast really is just begging to be posted on your Instagram.

Apart from the beaches and the huge waves, other activities that are popular on the island are snorkeling and diving. You can also drop by the largest mangrove forest in this side of the Philippines.

5. Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte

Pagudpud is Boracay’s lesser-known cousin in the north. What makes Pagudpud different from Boracay, however, is the fact that the former is almost untouched by commercialization. There are no malls, big stores or even ATMs in this municipality. That, however, should not hinder you from enjoying the crystal blue waters of this underrated beach town.

6. Panglao Island, Bohol

One of two municipalities that make up Panglao Island, Bohol. Panglao is a famous tourist destination for its white sand beaches and world-class diving sites. Panglao is very accessible to other natural wonders of Bohol such as the Chocolate Hills, the countless springs, rivers, falls and caves and the ever cute tarsier, the smallest primate in the world.

7. Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro

Puerto Galera is a town on the Philippine island of Mindoro. It’s known for its dive sites and beaches. The long curve of White Beach is backed by bars and resorts. Inland, a forest trail leads to secluded Talipanan Falls, and a hillside 9-hole golf course sits above the coast. Northeast, the waters off Sabang Beach teem with marine life and corals. Medio and Paniquian (Boquete) islands offer quieter beaches.

8. Palaui Island, Cagayan Valley

The Palaui Island Protected Landscape and Seascape is a protected area and national park in the town of Santa Ana in Cagayan, Philippines. It is located off the northeastern extremity of Luzon Island, the largest island in the country. But what makes Sta. Ana more beautiful is Palaui, the island off its shore that offers so much white sandy beaches and panoramic coves, a century old lighthouse, hidden waterfalls and lovely people, all in a scenic ragged terrain surrounded with huge waves and echoing wind.

9. Mactan Island, Cebu

One of the country’s top tourist destinations, people just can’t seem to get enough of Mactan Island in the province of Cebu, and with good reason.

Located just off the coast of the island of Cebu, Mactan Island is home to most of Cebu’s best beaches and high-class resorts like the Shangri-La, Plantation Bay, Crimson Resort and Spa, and the Movenpick Hotel. There’s no shortage of restaurants either, although you will need to go into town if you’re looking to save money.

Divers will also find Mactan Island a great place to be in. Often called the Diving Mecca of the South, it has dive spots around the island and many more just across the sea to the other islands. These dive sites are perfect for beginner or advanced divers, with depths reaching between 30 and 50 meters.

10. Coron Island, Palawan

Coron is the third-largest island in the Calamian Islands in northern Palawan in the Philippines. The island is part of the larger municipality of the same name. It is about 170 nautical miles southwest of Manila and is known for several Japanese shipwrecks of World War II vintage.

What this cluster of islands has become most well known for is the handful of WWII shipwrecks that are permanently entombed off the shores of Coron. Above the surface, Coron is just as majestic and is home to one of the most photographed spots in all of the Philippines. The deeper you look the more breathtaking sights you will find here in Coron, Philippines.
